Apparently on the 20th October there was a meteor shower from the trail of Halleys comet, I never planned this in but still managed to get some shooting stars thanks to the comet.
I set out to make a star trail photograph (feature image), this is done by setting the camera up on a tripod and using a remote release for the camera. I set my camera to bulb mode and my remote to 1 min exposure, my F-stop was at 3.5 and iso 50. These settings allow more light into the camera. Thanks to the moon and the clear skies the rocks light up so I did not need another source to light up the rocks. Once I had my camera set up how I wanted, I released the remote to take photo after photo. I let it take 2 hours of photos in one position at 1 min exposure this turns out at 120 photos altogether. To finish the star trails in one picture a little photoshop is needed. Not all of the 120 picture are used as too much clouds went over head blocking the stars. So I decided not to use them all.
While my camera was doing it’s thing I showed Alex how to set up his camera and understand how I take my photographs.
I told him which settings I use and said to use them with his camera, helping him change the settings but letting him change them to understand the camera. Once he had taken a few pictures on these settings I told him to change them again trying to understand the camera but this time without my help. Once he had done this I told him to look through his last photos and see the difference.
When I was happy with my 120th photo we moved to a new place and tried out some new toys of mine. Light tubes or as I call them light-sabers and Alex wanted to try out his purge mask and asked me how to make it show on the camera.
